At Graham School of Dance & Theatre Arts, we are proud to be an ISTD Approved Dance Centre for both Modern Theatre and Tap Dance DDE Teacher Training. DDE Teacher Training
We are proud to offer excellent DDE Teacher Training in both Modern Theatre and Tap at GSDTA. This qualification prepares the learner for teaching all ages and abilities their chosen subject, and up to Intermediate on the ISTD syllabus. The skills learned in the duration of DDE Teacher Training can be applied to their work as a dancer as well as a teacher. This qualification is recognised globally and is an invaluable addition to any chosen career path. We strongly believe we have an incredibly encouraging, informative, and fun environment for learners to thrive in whilst studying DDE.
What does DDE Teacher Training Involve?
DDE Teacher Training classes run on a Monday evening at GSDTA Studios. We are an approved dance centre for the ISTD. DDE lessons are taught by highly qualified DDE approved tutors. These classes are run weekly and give the opportunity to work through all the relevant units to complete the DDE qualification.
Structure of DDE
Unit 1 – Safe Dance Practice (Written element)
Unit 2 – Observation, teaching and assisting (Observation, teaching and assisting one of our many qualified teachers and have first-hand experience and knowledge of what it is to be a teacher)
Unit 3 – 2 hour practical exam (An assessment to showcase your knowledge and skill in the chosen genre, taken at our purpose-built studios)
Unit 4 – Intermediate Level (Students have the opportunity to study the Intermediate exam in their chosen subject at our school, or can fast track this unit if they have already completed it)
Unit 5 – Child Development (Written unit)All units will be supported by your tutors at GSDTA.

The Benefits of DDE
A qualification equivalent to Certificate of Higher Education, or first year of a degree
Upon completion, a Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education, which is recognised globally
