GCSE Dance Classes
At Graham School of Dance & Theatre Arts, we offer GCSE Dance a year early, beginning in Year 9, students are also welcome to join in Year 10 for our two-year course. The course runs approximately once a month on Sundays, with access to the theory and written work online. The GCSE Dance syllabus offers students the opportunity to express themselves through their choreography, written and practical work.
Please note to do GCSE Dance we ask that students take a minimum of 1 Ballet and 1 Contemporary class a week. We have an outstanding record of GCSE Dance results with the vast majority of students receiving an A*/9 over the years.

GCSE Dance Year 1
In the first year of GCSE Dance, students will work to perfect their performances skills, learning two set phrases and a duet/trio piece. In their theory work, they will learn how to write hypothetical choreography and analyse six professional pieces of work.

GCSE Dance Year 2
For the second year of GCSE Dance, students are given stimuli from the GCSE exam board to explore and choose either a solo or group choreography in any style. For their theory work, they will look at exam style writing skills and applying their knowledge to these skills. Students will critically assess their work and learn how to write exam answers on this. Students prepare for a written paper in this year which is also taken at our studios.
